ANNE MUBANGA
President


Anne is a Freelance Consultant Trainer and Lecturer. She has twenty-six years experience in consultancy, management and training in the voluntary, public and private sectors in the UK, Eastern Europe, Former Soviet Countries and Africa. As an experienced trainer, she is specialist in Training Needs Analysis and the development and delivery of Management Training. She has a Diploma in Social Work (1975) BA Sociology and Public Administration (1980), Diploma in Development and Training, (1981), M.Sc. Economics and Sociology of Education (1989), NVQ Assessor and Verifier Level 4 (2000), Member of Institute of Personnel and Development, and, Qualified and licensed to use Myers Briggs material (2003).

Anne’s professional experience spans education, development and management. She was Youth Officer, Ministry of Education, Lusaka, Zambia, Lecturer in Sociology and Development Studies at the Natural Resources Development College, Lusaka, Zambia, Consultant on Integrated Rural Development for Germany Technical Corporation GTZ in Kabompo, North Western Province and IRDP for SIDA, Eastern Province, Zambia, Consultant Lecturer in Urban Sociology at the UN Institute for Namibia, Lusaka Evaluation Officer: World Bank Housing Project, Lusaka, Zambia, and Team Leader, Refugee Council, UK.

 

 

Margaret Zimba
1st Vice President


Margaret Zimba is a Registered Nurse by profession and has worked for the National Health Service hospitals in general medicine for a number of years. She holds a BSc in Health Service Management, and an MSc in Research and Practice Development. She currently works with the Modernisation Agency as Acting Programme Manager for the North West London Coronary Heart Disease-C Sector where they focus on service improvement for patients suffering from coronary heart diseases.

She supports development projects that will improve the lives of indigenous Africans who are underprivileged, allowing them to be self-sufficient and independent.

Susan Mbugua
Treasurer

Susan Mbugua is an Ecologist by profession and an Independent Consultant on environmental matters. She holds a BSc in Ecology and an MSc in Resource Assessment for Development Planning. She is the Director of Environment and Health Action Network {EHAN}, based in the UK with an office in Kenya. She specialises in Natural Resources Management, Resource Assessment for Development Planning and Health Promotion. She is passionate about holistic approach to community development at the grassroots.

She worked for several years as an Integrated Rural Development /Natural Resources Management Specialist with the Kenya Government, and as a consultant for international organisations, including UNEP and the European Union.

Mary Chinedu Kanu
Executive Director

Mary Kanu holds a B. Ed degree in Education from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria (1981) and an M. Ed in Adult Education (1984) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She also holds a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism (1995) from Times Journalism Institute, Lagos, Nigeria, and a London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Certificate in Public Relations and Marketing (1986).
Her professional life spans teaching, journalism, business-communications and project management.

She was a former columnist and public affairs commentator with the Nigerian Guardian Newspapers, former Business Communications Manager, Lydia Communications Limited, Lagos Nigeria, former Managing Editor, the Post Express, Lagos, Nigeria, former Capacity Building Programme Officer, Akina Mama wa Afrika, London, United Kingdom, and former Director, African Women’s Welfare Association, based in London. She has published several articles on the women’s movement, good governance and community development. She is committed to development programmes that would enable African women to showcase their struggles, achievements, and contributions to the communities they serve.
